University of St Andrews is one of the oldest and most reputable universities in the UK. Over the last few years, it has developed a PCO (Professional Conference Organiser) offering with state of the art conference facilities which can host up to 900 delegates at a time. The Conference and Group Services team offers a wide range of event assistance and support for associations looking to hold conferences, events, summer schools or book group accommodation at the university.
Challenge: When St Andrews first took the decision to develop its conference services, it knew that an event management solution would be vital to its success. It needed a system that would manage abstract submissions, help set agendas and provide a flexible registration process for delegates attending its clients’ events. The university also had to consider how the technology would affect other support units throughout the institution: the software had to be flexible and user-friendly, requiring minimum assistance from the university’s IT department.
Solution: St Andrews decided to partner with Eventsforce, whose event management system is widely used across major PCO and educational institutions. Detailed registration forms are easy to set up, with added payment facilities through the integrated Worldpay gateway. The system creates valuable reports on abstract submissions which can be filtered down by topics, authors and countries. The reporting tools also provide important insight on attendance, session selections and cross-event revenue streams.
