In fact, Corporate Event News conducted a reader survey a few months ago asking event professionals to select and rank the top challenges they face on the job.  Amongst dealing with issues like “low budgets, high expectations” and coming up with creative ideas around event design, time (or the lack of it) was ranked high on the list.

Which isn’t surprising – given that good time management is one of the most important traits of a successful event planner. As the Corporate Event News article explains, most event planners work far more than 40 hours a week.  Early morning, evenings, weekends. Between deadlines, meetings and travel – trying to find enough time to get everything done is a never-ending and often frustrating pursuit.

Many event planners rely on technology tools that help them save time in organising and managing events. All of these systems help us connect, perform and leverage our resources a lot more effectively than ever before.

But the human factor is just as important. Effective time management is a personal thing and most of us don’t get it right.   Even those of us who have a natural inclination in organising our time effectively, don’t get it right all the time.  Whether it’s procrastination, personal distractions or tasks that take up a lot more time than they should, there are many things that waste our time every day.  And wasted time means rushed deadlines, a work-life imbalance and more stress and anxiety.
